Summer is all about great food and sunshine. This summer I seem to be obsessed with Jilz Crackerz. They’re tasty and easy to pair with everything. Earlier this week, I came home from work and wanted something easy but different. I looked in my pantry and noticed that I had two cans of Safe Catch tuna. I hadn’t had a tuna salad in a while and it seemed like the perfect thing. I took a look in the fridge to see what I could pair with the tuna and my eyes settled on my Farmhouse Kraut. That’s when the idea for tuna kraut salad came to light.
I know that this post sounds like an ad for Jilz Crackerz, but to be honest, it’s nothing more than my love for a great product that adds that tasty crunch to my healthy lifestyle. Making your own crackers is time consuming. If you’re a single, full-time working girl like me, you don’t have time to make tasty crackers in addition to everything else you already make to eat. So if you’re missing that tasty, crunchy cracker because all the one’s you would normally grab are full of bad ingredients, then you really should try Jilz Crackerz. You’ll thank me for it 🙂
Now let’s talk about sauerkraut. Do you know how many benefits sauerkraut has? Tons! One of the best benefits about sauerkraut is that it feeds the good bacteria in the gut with natural probiotics promoting good digestion and also fights leaky gut. A healthy gut is the backbone of good, solid health. Anything that supports good digestive health also supports a good immune system. I don’t know about you, but I could totally go without another head cold this season. How about you? Let’s take it a step further. Did you know that it also helps to protect your cognitive health? The food you eat effects your body which includes your brain as well. It’s not hard to believe that our mental and emotional health is also affected by the foods we eat. Have you sat down and ate a burger and fries (from someplace like McDonald’s) and felt pretty crappy afterwards? Not just physically, but mentally? I have! I could keep going, but instead i’ll tell you which brand of kraut happens to be my absolute fave. My favorite brand of sauerkraut is Farmhouse Culture. They make several varieties of kraut and kimchi (the kimchi is really good), and they also make Gut Shot. Gut Shot is the juice from kraut which also contains the natural probiotics in the form of a drink. If you haven’t tried them out before, I really recommend that you do. They have a flavor to go with any dish.

Tuna Kraut Salad
- 1-2 Stalks of Celery, diced
- 1/4 Cup Red Onion, chopped
- 1/4 Cup Farmhouse Culture Classic Caraway
- 2 Cans of Safe Catch Tuna
- 2 Large Pinches of Sea Salt
- 1/8 Tsp White Pepper
- 1/8 Tsp Cayenne (or less depending on how spicy you like it)
- 1 Tbsp Capers
- 1 Tbsp Sir Kensington Mustard
- 1/4 Cup Sir Kensington Mayonnaise made with Avocado Oil
Tuna Kraut Salad Directions
- In a medium bowl, mix all of your ingredients and serve cold with Jilz Crackerz Salt & Pepper crackers.
